Dear violists,

as we inform you by email, following the current situation, we have to turn our competition into an online version. The pandemic situation is getting worse and due to your safety we have decided to make this year in distance. Please, send us the video recordings of both rounds until October 24, 2020 (incl.). 

Dear violists, today it´s the official application deadline - however we have decided to keep the online application open until midnight on Friday, September 18 (included). So you don´t need to hurry up today 🙂 If you have any questions, please contact us.

Dear Friends,

we are getting ready for our competition. We are very happy, that all violists will be playing in a beautiful Martinu hall at the Academy of Performing Artst (where we are based this year). We also do our best to keep up all hygienic and safety conditions so all our participants, staff, jury member and guests will be safe. We will have disinfection and facemasks for everybody (don´t worry you don´t have to play in it:-) and we have rooms big enough to keep the social distance as well. We are so much looking forward to hear live music again, so don´t forget that the application deadline is already in 10 days. See you in Prague!

We are very happy to announce that second Oskar Nedbal International Viola Competition will be held at the beautiful Martinu hall at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. It´s a great concert hall with amazing acustic and big enough to keep even the social distance :-) we are also very greatful to have the Academy of Performing Arts as one of the major partners.

We continue to prepare our Nedbal competition 2020 as it's planned and we belive that everything will come back to normal in the autumn.
We will open our online application last week in May and the deadline will be in September. All information about dates and repertoire is updated here, section repertoire and schedule.

In recent days, Prague was accompanied by the tones of violists from all over the world, 65 participants from 25 countries were competing. This year’s inaugural Oskar Nedbal International Viola Competition has been received with an unprecedented interest and the level of the competition was very high.
